Safety and quality
Everyone goes home safely
Safety, quality and care for the environment shape how we plan and run every site. We work to the Zero Harm commitment our execution partners share.
Zero Harm
Our Zero Harm commitment
Zero Harm means reducing risk in every activity so that everyone goes home safely. That covers our staff, partner specialists, subcontractors, visitors and the public near the work.
Our execution partners embed this commitment across their organisations and share it with their business partners. We share it too, and we apply it to all our work.
- Risk reduced in every activity, planned in from the start
- HSE oversight on every site
- Safety expectations shared with every subcontractor and supplier
QHSE framework
Quality, health, safety and environment
We work to a quality, health, safety and environment (QHSE) framework drawn from our execution partners' systems. It has three parts.
Policies
Written policies for quality, health, safety and the environment, applied to every activity on site.
Awareness campaigns
Regular campaigns keep safety and quality in front of everyone on site, from new starters to supervisors.
Recognition programmes
Recognition for safe, high-quality work, so that good practice is noticed and repeated.
Managed projects
BIM-enabled delivery and FIDIC administration
On managed projects, our design and management partner brings BIM-enabled delivery. A shared digital model helps designers, managers and builders coordinate their work and keep project information consistent.
Contracts on managed projects are administered to international FIDIC standards. This gives every party clear roles, procedures and records.
Sustainability
Community and environmental responsibility
Our execution partners focus on sustainable design, community support and environmental responsibility, and run active programmes in community support and the environment. We bring the same focus to our work in Kenya.
- Sustainable design considered from the start of each project
- Respect for neighbours and communities around each site
- Environmental impacts managed under our QHSE framework
- Local employment and skills transfer wherever possible
